How to Get Your First Virginia Hunting License

    Register at dwr.virginia.gov. Format: Yes — adults 18+. Cost: $19.95.

  3. Buy your license online

    Go to dwr.virginia.gov, create an account, enter your certificate number, select your license type, and purchase. Resident base license from $23.

  4. Add required tags for your species

    Deer, turkey, elk, and waterfowl all require separate tags in Virginia. Check the current regulation digest at dwr.virginia.gov for tag costs and season dates.

  5. Save your license and carry field documentation
