About HunterEdGuide
Why This Site Exists
Getting a hunting license for the first time is genuinely confusing. State wildlife agency websites are built for existing hunters, not newcomers. Course vendor sites exist to sell courses, not to give unbiased advice. Reddit threads are scattered, often outdated, and sometimes wrong.
HunterEdGuide was built to fill that gap: a single, comprehensive, unbiased resource that helps a first-time hunter — any age, any state, any situation — figure out exactly what they need to do to hunt legally and confidently.
Our Editorial Approach
Every page on this site is written to answer a specific question completely — not to drive clicks, not to sell courses, not to fill space. We follow a simple standard:
- Every factual claim is verified against official state wildlife agency sources
- License costs and requirements are updated at the start of each season
- When rules are ambiguous or variable, we say so — we don't guess
- We link to official state portals, not to course vendors or affiliates
- We include a disclaimer on every page because rules change and we're not lawyers
What We Cover
HunterEdGuide covers the licensing and education process only — not hunting techniques, equipment reviews, or outfitter recommendations. Our scope: hunter education requirements, license types and costs, exemptions (age, military, landowner), apprentice and deferral programs, certificate reciprocity, and replacement procedures. We go deep on the bureaucratic side of hunting so you don't have to.
How We're Funded
HunterEdGuide is funded entirely through Google AdSense display advertising. We have no affiliate relationships with course vendors, license agents, or sporting goods retailers. We receive no payment for recommending any specific course provider or state portal. Ads are served by Google and are not influenced by our editorial content.
